Chorus While you’re having a good time, baby I’ll be standing here crying. While you’re having a good time, baby A part of me will be dying. Verse Then you come, and you go Never ever saying goodbye Leaving me wondering why That you are leaving. Then you put, on a show Acting like you still want me Even though you don’t want to see Why I am grieving. Chorus While you’re having a good time, baby I’ll be here all alone. While you’re having a good time, baby A part of me will be gone. Verse Then you ask, what is wrong When you see me walking away When you know I’m ready to say, that we are threw. But it won’t, be so long ‘Til that day is finally here When you know the end is near, and I leave you. Bridge They say – Just turn around and walk away It’s better to know – When it’s not so - Either way I’ll be able to say... Chorus That I’m having a good time, baby While you’re standing there crying. And while I’m having a good time, baby A part of you will be dying. So while I’m having a good time, baby (Remember the good times, bad times, they don’t mean a thing.) And while I’m having a good time, baby (Remember the good times, bad times, they’re all just the same.)

You Talk 03:36
1st VERSE Princess says she’s got a date, really gotta go. A meeting and she can’t be late, nice to see you though. But I don’t quite recall a word I got out of my mouth. I said, “Can you stop just long enough, oh baby, to hear me out?” Oh... CHORUS You talk, you talk, you talk, you talk and I never get to. You talk, you talk, you talk, you talk and I---never get through, I never get through to you... That’s right. 2nd VERSE Standing in the longest line, trying to get a job Make it finally to the counter when things started seeming odd. The lady there would not look up or vary from her script She said, “Next in line, please move along.” I said, “Lady, listen to this...” Oh... CHORUS You talk, you talk, you talk, you talk and I never get to. You talk, you talk, you talk, you talk and I---never get through, I never get through to you... BRIDGE I don’t know why I bother to speak Cause I can hear your voice, all the way down on the street. CHORUS You talk, you talk, you talk, you talk and I never get to. You talk, you talk, you talk, you talk and I---never get through, I never get through to you... 3rd VERSE Feeling down on my luck, I think I’ll call a friend Hey there can you hear me out, my baby’s left again. Before I had the chance to speak he was, rambling on I said “Hold it there a minute, bud, you’re talking on my dime.” Oh... CHORUS You talk, you talk, you talk, you talk and I never get to. You talk, you talk, you talk, you talk and I---never get through, I never get through... You talk, you talk, you talk, you talk and I never get to. You talk, you talk, you talk, you talk and I---never get through, I never get through to you... That’s right. Shut it up. You heard me. Shut your mouth!

What A Crime 03:40
Why do I feel so bad though I know - No one’s to blame We tried so long to hide the lies and hoped - It’d never end. (VERSE) Never have we found the time, to spend alone together Cause you were walking and I was running, and our paths just seemed to never… What a crime - To hurt again. (CHORUS) What a crime - To hurt again. What we had as lovers - Comes to an end. Now that all is left of you are visions - In my mind (VERSE) I want to see you, hold you, feel emotions - One more time. I listen for your voice, in the darkened corridor And in my abandoned heart, you’ll live on forevermore. What a crime - To hurt again. (CHORUS) What a crime - To have to hurt again. What we had as lovers - Comes to an end. What a crime - To hurt again. (CHORUS) What a crime - To hurt again. What we had as lovers – Finally ends.

And in these eyes I’ve seen a tiger stalk its prey. And in these eyes I’ve seen, the sky turn into grey. And in these eyes I’ve seen the people on the street. And with these ears I’ve heard them talk but never speak. Scattered faces shuffle, through my brain Leaving only memories, but no names. CHORUS When I close my eyes - I try - To run away To hide - Inside. When I close my eyes - I try - To run away. 2nd VERSE And in these eyes I’ve seen you smile into the sun. And in these ears I’ve heard you sing, while you run. And with these lips I’ve kissed you, while you weep And in these arms I’ve held you, while you sleep. Shattered pictures crumble, into the glass Leaving hallow memories, of our past. 2nd CHORUS When I close my eyes - I try - To run away To hide - Inside. When I close my eyes - I try. When I close my eyes - I try - To run away. To hide - Inside. When I close my eyes - I try - To run away.

Over Yonder 04:21
1st VERSE Statisticians tell me that the odds are even - on heads and tales. Fifty-Fifty chances are the best luck - that ever prevails. But holy moly it’s a celebration – when we finally do agree. And if we do – oh, you’ll soon say to me. CHORUS Way oh, way oh, way oh, over yonder – Somewhere over yonder is you. Yeah, way oh, way oh, way oh, over yonder – is me – as far away as we can be. 2nd VERSE Saturday you tell me that you want to see me – but Sunday you’re gone. Everybody tells me that I’m right – but you say I’m wrong. You say tomâto, and I say tomāto – you say stop - and I say go. You know it all and I know nothing but what you want me to know. And holy Jesus it’s a sweet sensation – when you see things the way I do. But just for now – oh, I’ll say to you. CHORUS Way oh, way oh, way oh, over yonder – Somewhere over yonder is you. Yeah, way oh, way oh, way oh, over yonder – is me – as far away as we can be. SOLO And holy Moses it’s a sweet sensation – when you see things the way I do. But just for now – oh, I’ll say to you. CHORUS Way oh, way oh, way oh, over yonder – Somewhere from another point of view. Yeah, way oh, way oh, way oh, over yonder – is you. And way oh, way oh, way oh, over yonder – Somewhere where you never seem to be. Yeah, way oh, way oh, way oh, over yonder – is me – as far away as we can be.

I went to a party on the other side of town with a friend of a friend who knew the neighbors. There were candles on the cake – and candy for the take – and ice cream in 31 flavors. The hostess left the party with a friend that she called Max The crowd got so restless that they took their presents back – I say now CHORUS Don’t party by yourself. Don't party by yourself. (You’ll regret it later) (Don’t be a skater) Don’t party by yourself. Don't party by yourself. (Don’t make a blooper) (Don’t be a party pooper) Raise a little hell but Lordy don’t you party by yourself – That’s right. 2nd VERSE The modem city lodge was whooping up a storm at their hotel annual convention. A member slipped away, and played on a stray. A girl whose name we cannot mention. She took him for a ride, and put him into bed. Stole his Rolex watch and left the bill instead – I say now CHORUS Don’t party by yourself. Don't party by yourself. (You’ll be sorry Charlie) (They take your money honey) Don’t party by yourself. Don't party by yourself. (Don’t be stupid cupid) (What a mother brother) Raise a little hell but Lordy don’t you party by yourself – That’s right. (Call your brother mother) (Don’t be a party pooper) Raise a little hell but Lordy don’t you party by yourself – That’s right. I say now chances are you will be sorry if you party by yourself. Raise a little hell but Lordy don’t you party by yourself – (It cost too much money!)

1st VERSE It’s something that dictates all emotions And sometimes it makes me wanna scream – ooh yeah. Then you see the side of me I don’t know I bet you wish you’d never found me. CHORUS But some days more than others – I lose all self-control I rant and rave ‘bout everything - And wish you’d go to hell. Yeah, some days more than others – I feel so down and blue I’d stay away if I were you. 2nd VERSE The pain can sometimes turn you wicked Especially when I’m changing moods – ooh yeah. When I bleed well you just run for cover As if I were some stone cold bad ass dude. CHORUS But some days more than others – I lose all self-control I rant and rave ‘bout everything - And wish you’d go to hell. Yeah, some days more than others – I feel so down and blue I’d stay the hell away if I were you. BRIDGE Hey, I’m sorry this ole curse is back again Hey, I’m sorry don’t know you I need friend To help me through and shower me with flowers. CHORUS RANT Some days more than others - I lose all self-control Some days more than others - I wish you’d go to hell I can’t believe it – You know I’m PMSing and here he wants me to do all these things And he walks all over me – just get the hell away. Get out there and do all that yourself - I don’t know what the hell he’s talking about. He can’t help me with anything – And here I am bleeding like a sieve. I don’t know what the hell his problem is - He’s just making me so damn angry. I tell you I’m gonna kick him - straight up his butt and out his ear. It’s gonna come straight through, honey – Cause I can’t take this You’d better give me something to go on, baby – cause, let me tell you, this PMS is rough. It’s rough for me, rough for you, rough for the whole damn world. That’s right, that’s right – Ohh – Ahh – Ahh – Oh.

Faces 04:24
Well it was more than a feeling - more than a thrill - To see you ‘round here still. And who would believe me - if I told them how - I knew you’d be there now. Behind a cloak and dagger day - hides a naked soul (1st VERSE) And when the darkness makes its way - the curtain unfolds. Cause at night - people have faces - they put on for show. (CHORUS) And at night - people have faces - they don’t even know. Well there was never any warning - only pills - to keep from morning chills. And what was an angel - was really just - a nocturnal lust. Behind smiles and veinless eyes - lurks a naked soul (2nd VERSE) And repetition is the real surprise - when the truth unfolds. Cause at night - people have faces - they put on for show. (CHORUS) And at night - people have faces - they don’t even know. (SOLO) Behind smiles and veinless eyes - lurks a naked soul (3rd VERSE) And repetition is the real surprise - when the truth unfolds. (CHORUS) (CHORUS)

Oh Lord – Oh Please tell me – Where – Is my home. (CHORUS) Oh Lord – Oh just tell me – Why – I must be all alone. Well seasons come and go – year after year Still I don’t know where I belong. (VERSE) Now there’s a fair wind a blowin’ - in my ear Telling me it’s time to move on. And I told them – how much it meant – to be free And they told me – that they’d always – remember me. So, Oh Lord – Oh please tell me – Where – Is my home. (CHORUS) Oh Lord – Oh just tell me – Why – I must be all alone. Must I live an ordinary life – without hope? (BRIDGE) Does it take someone so very long – to know? Well I heard of a place – down around the bend (VERSE) Where people are for real and so kind. So I’ve made up my mind – to look in on a friend And see - just what - I might find. And I’ll tell them – how much it means – to be free And I hope that – they’ll always – remember me. So, Oh Lord – Oh please tell me – Where – Is my home. (CHORUS) Oh Lord – Oh just tell me – Why – I must be all alone. Must I live an ordinary life – without hope? (BRIDGE) Does it take someone so very long – to know?

VERSE Summer comes, and you’re young and wild - Time stands still for you now. And you learn, and you fall down - Then you find your way through somehow. Pick a nowhere highway to make your getaway and, just don’t worry You don’t where you’ve been, you won’t go there again, you’re in a hurry. CHORUS But you don’t know just what you have got Until it’s gone. Yeah, you don’t know just what you have got Until it’s gone... Gone, gone, gone. 2nd VERSE In the fall, when you’re old and grey - And time won’t wait for you now. And what learned, well, it didn’t pay - Those dead end roads got in your way. Pick a nowhere hideaway to rest your mind away and, just don’t worry If you know where you’ve been, you’ll go there again and then, just don’t hurry. BRIDGE Take a load off your mind, and what you might find Won’t happen if you happen to know just went wrong. CHORUS But you don’t know just what you have got, until it’s gone. Yeah, you don’t know just what you have got, until it’s gone... Gone, gone, gone... Gone, gone, gone.

1st VERSE A man can hold a woman’s heart, into his hands, And never know what he’s got. Then throw it all away, like an anecdote, That was never caught. CHORUS But life’s full of those, who’ll never see, a certain way into a heart. But love grows when two people plant a seed And with a little care - those roots will bear the start – and grow, and bloom, And never part. 2nd VERSE A woman washes away her pain with tolerance, To exist without fail. And then she waits for the right time to make a stance Or blaze another trail. CHORUS But life’s full of those, who’ll never see, a certain way into a heart. But love grows when two people plant a seed And with a little care - those roots will bear the start – and grow, and bloom, And never part. SOLO CHORUS But life’s full of those, who’ll never see, a certain way into a heart. But love grows when two people plant a seed And with a little care - those roots will bear the start – and grow – and bloom – forever – start – and grow – and bloom – forever - Ohhhh, and never part.

7 pounds and 4 ounces rockin’ (VERSE) In a chair near the fireplace With mama’s fingers – in her hand. 7:12 and 4 lanes are crossin’ (VERSE) Near the school so she looks both ways With mama’s fingers – in her hand. Yeah there are hands out there with open arms to greet you (BRIDGE) And there are hands dealt from, the bottom of a deck But as long as there’s a hand to hold onto Everything – Everything - Everything will turn out for the best. 17 and fortunes are waiting (VERSE) To be made so she says “goodbye” With mama’s fingers – in her hand. 7 months before she’s in labor (VERSE) With the father nowhere in sight Just mama’s fingers – in her hand. Yeah there are hands out there with open arms to greet you (BRIDGE) And there are hands dealt from, the bottom of a deck But as long as there’s a hand to hold onto Everything – Everything – Everything will turn out for the best. 7 months and 4 sizes larger (VERSE) Being led up a flight of stairs With mama’s fingers – in her hand. 7th floor and 4 nurses watch her (VERSE) As her doctor says a prayer With mama’s fingers – in her hand. 7 pounds and 4 ounces rockin’ (CODA)

I got a woman - A cute and pretty thing Who loves to hear people strumming guitar. She’s got an ego - She’s got flowers too She knows where it’s at she reads the National Inquire. Well I’ve learned to accept, the way she are - Cause she loves me for my car. I have a limo - a Mazerati too But wouldn’t you know it there both in the shop. I drive an old Ford – with a 352 Clocked at 100 by the local cops Well I’ve learned to accept, the way they are - Cause they love me for my car. I got all kinds of people waving - and others turning their heads A honking and raving - but I can’t hear a word they said. Well I have to accept, the way they are - Cause they love me for my car. I got an air conditioned body – and a stick shift on the floor Got a back seat for the ladies – and a chauffeur for the door. We go cruising through the country – and to the A&W All the old folks think I’m crazy – and you know that might be true. But I’ve learned to accept the way they are - Cause they love me for my car. I had a woman – a cute and pretty thing Who used to love me for my car. She found a new love – with a new car too. You see mine sits smashed at the junkyard.

It’s gonna be a long time – Before I slow down (CHORUS) It’s gonna be a long time – ‘Til I throw in the towel You can fill my road with detour signs - And push me over the hill I’ve climbed But where I wanna be, I’m gonna be a long time. Well the mirror on the wall – was a wake up call for me (VERSE) I was starting to live – Way beyond my jeans I joined the Y.M.C.A. – And cut out all that junk And pulled my weight – down instead – of pushing it on my luck. And it’s gonna be a long time – Before I slow down (CHORUS) It’s gonna be a long time – ‘Til I throw in the towel You can fill my road with detour signs - And push me over the hill I’ve climbed But where I wanna be, I’m gonna be a long time. I was doin’ time at work – Getting 9 to 5 for life (VERSE) By watching other people pass me by So I rolled up my sleeves – And clocked out of that rut And won’t look back – to reflect – ‘Til I’m done kicking butt. And it’s gonna be a long time – Before I slow down (CHORUS) It’s gonna be a long time – ‘Til I throw in the towel You can fill my road with detour signs - And push me over the hill I’ve climbed But where I wanna be, I’m gonna be a long time Yeah where I wanna be – I’m gonna be a long time.

about

Over the years, I've written many songs that I never finished. Either the vocals made you wince, or the arrangements dragged on, or I just... moved on. So I brushed the dust off a few of them and commissioned two very talented British musicians: Mark Arnell, whom I've known since his days in the band "Bottlefly", and Matt Cheadle, who played with Mark in the band "I-94", to revise, rearrange, and reinvent them. I think they did a wonderful job. I hope you do too.
